Lukas Oakley

Ex-Offiico Director

Lukas Oakley was elected as one of the two Ward Councillors for the County of Brant Ward 2 on October 24, 2022. Lukas has lived in the County of Brant since 2003, spending the majority of that time in the town of Paris. Despite career pressures to move to the Greater Toronto Area or Kitchener/Waterloo, Lukas' love for the natural beauty of the Grand and the Nith rivers kept him in the County, now living in the Flats of Paris with his wife Bryn and corgi Luna.


Lukas pursued a chemistry education at the University of Guelph; going on to work in a variety of roles using those skills at Terrapure Environmental and Epitome Genetics. Lukas has been in a variety of management and advirory positions at these companies as an Information Technology Manager and Product Manager. He has been and coninutes to be an active volunteer in progressive provincial and federal politics, sitting as the curent President of the Provincial Brantford-Brant NDP.


Whether it be fishing in the Grand River or walking Luna through Barker's Bush, Lukas loves taking advantage of the natural amentieis the County of Brant offers. A drive to protect our natural beauty, ensure develpment is sustainable and puts people first,and make Council more tranparent brought the then 26 year old Lukas into municpal politics in 2022. With a grassroots, youth-empowered campaign behind him, Lukas won the election in Ward 2 and beacme the County of Brant's youngest Councillor. In office, Lukas looks forward to working with his peers to build a more open, sustainable, and welcoming County of Brant.
